My Kickstarter Campaign is up and running and I will be updating what is happening with that, here, through the blog posts. For those of you that don’t know about Kickstarter: Kickstarter is a company that believes in helping talented, aspiring musicians, writers, filmmakers & creative entrepreneurs raise funds for their projects. It is a platform for fans to get behind Artists they love and help make their dream careers a reality in a very tangible way!
I partnered with Kickstarter to fund my next record because I thought it would be a great way for all of my fans to be involved in the WHOLE process, beginning to end. As opposed to my making an album and then saying, “Hey, it’s here-come and get it!” This way my fans, who have been supporting me, are getting the insider view throughout the planning and recording stages. It’s fun to watch a project unfold and be a part of the excitement! I wanted my fans to share in that,too!
At the most basic level it serves a a pre-order platform. There are lots of opportunities to get the intended CD or project be it music, film or other, well before the public gets it and to have access to exclusive offerings from each Artist, or entrepreneur that wouldn’t otherwise be sold. For instance in my campaign, one can pledge and receive not only my exclusive t-shirt and autographed CD before public release but My very special Glazed pecans or my favorite chocolate truffles. Things I would never sell.
More-so, Kickstarter truly propagates a sense of community within the arts. There are a multitude of talented, creative individuals out there who have great projects. There is continued interaction between the project creators and those that give support to those projects, via live and time lined updates. Kickstarter gives us a place to connect as a group of people who support those ideas and projects and want the arts to not just survive, but THRIVE. Pledging through Kickstarter gives each of us the opportunity to invest in artistic entrepreneurial ventures. Although it is not investment in financial gain but the release of a bird to flight.
